superbox

yesterday i finished building my first arduino project, a very simple knob box that i’m going to use in conjunction with my 40h for a super compact travelling music setup. six 10k potentiometers, some breadboard and a lot of wiring.the arduino project is very well documented and it came together a lot faster that i’d anticipated.

also shown is the max/msp patch i’ve written to convert the serial data superbox spits out into midi cc messages. so far it’s proving very useable - i love the slight resistance of metal potentiometers, they’re great to tweak. here’s a rough cost breakdown:

arduino board (from http://arduino.cc): £20

10k potentiometers, breadboard, wires, knobs (from rapid electronics): £15

case (from maplin): £4

total: £39

not bad for a super-compact custom controller with personality.
